Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This wine is starting to round into a mature stage. The bouquet pushes light leather, forest, earth and secondary fruit aromas. Black cherry and plum work well together on the tight, mildly tannic palate, while the finish is concentrated and rewarding. Will be good with food.

From Conti Capponi, this medium-intensity Chianti offers basic berry and plum aromas along with plump strawberry and plum flavors. Finishes clean, with a touch of vanilla and butter. A touch bulky.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Round up front, with an earthy, leathery nose housing solid red fruit that’s comfortable and familiar. Both plum and raspberry work the palate, and then comes toast, chocolate and smooth tannins. Not overpowering but it’s in equilibrium.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This amber, thickly extracted Vin Santo from Chianti Classico opens with intense aromas of butterscotch, marron glacé, honey-roasted almond and brown sugar. It’s beautiful and intense down to the succulent core and offers fleshy layers of syrupy sugar.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Dark and austere, this is a mammoth Merlot with overstated coffee, chocolate, leather, tobacco, cigar and plump black cherry. Yet the aromas are not overly penetrating or immediate. It has chewy tannins and good length and would pair well with steak and Tuscan white beans.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Offers linearity and elegance in the place of brawn and might. The aromas are not extremely intense but they do focus on cherry and almond amaretto with a dash of exotic spice. Toasted flavors appear in the mouth and the wine ends with a fresh, spicy finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Packed tight with power and concentration, this is a meaty, dense Chianti Classico Riserva that boasts thick aromas of mature fruit. The wine has a dense, almost gritty consistency and ends with fresh cherry and plum flavors.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Although this wine offers a neutral-smelling nose, it compensates with a bright, crystalline appearance and a genuinely soft and creamy mouthfeel. It’s a delicate and feminine wine that would pair with avocado salad and feta cheese.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Spicy and raw at first, with cinnamon, clove and hard-cheese aromas. Quickly things turn to red cherry, raspberry and vanilla, while the lasting notes consist of mature red fruit and toast. Standard Chianti the way it should be.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Fairly oaky, with strong aromas of sawdust morphing into vanilla and butter. Fortunately there’s plenty of fruit backing it up. In the mouth, it’s firm, with bright cherry and plum; then even more vanilla shows up. Finishes with rubbery tannins and the flavor of black tea.
