This is one of Chile’s best Chardonnays. It’s made in the deep south of the country, where it’s very cool. The result is a zesty, acidic wine, but one with a lot of tropical flavors such as pineapple, lemon and melon. Well balanced and real, with a pleasant streak of oak running through the citrusy finish. Imported by Metrowine Distribution.

Fairly firm and leathery, with an herbal/green streak running through the bouquet. Tangy as a whole, with cherry fruit and a smack of bell pepper. Tart on the back end, with drying tannins. Not dissimilar to a weak-vintage Cru Bourgeois Bordeaux.

From deep in the south of Chile comes this small-lot Chardonnay, surely one of the country’s most interesting white wines. Felipe de Solminihac gets fruit from his in-laws’ vineyard to make this snappy, lemon-tinged wine, which also delivers apple, melon and citrus. Balanced and unique.

The nose offers leather, briar patch and smoky cherry fruit, while the leafy palate has good berry flavors along with touches of earth and herbs. It’s 85% Cab and the rest Carmenère and Merlot.

Shows complex aromas of leather, herbs and chocolate. This is a sensual, handcrafted red, one with real-time cherry, plum and cassis flavors, but also a suave mouthfeel and more than a few things in common with a good Bordeaux. Made by Aquitania and winemaker Felipe de Solminihac.
