The opening of tobacco, lemon peel, floral notes and mixed black fruits is alluring, while the palate is crisp and acidic but still fresh and good. Herbal berry fruit flavors with citric hints work the flavor profile, and the finish smacks down with firm tannins and bite. Nice aromas and flavors but the mouthfeel needs some work. 55% Carmenère with 30% Syrah and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Bold like a punch in the face, with olive, charred beef, herbs and bramble on the nose. The palate is narrow but sturdy, with tough tannins and flavors of herbal berry fruit and olive. Lemony as well, with a short finish.

If you’re buying Crucero 2009 Chardonnay, stick with the Best Buy regular bottling; this Reserva is overoaked, high on acid and doesn’t really come together that well. The bouquet is all resin and toast, while the high-acid palate is searing and sour, with tart lemon flavors.

The opening of dusty raspberry fruit, spice and saucy herbal notes is what you’d expect from Chilean Merlot. There’s some heat to the medium-sized palate along with raspberry and pepper flavors. Dry and peppery as well on the finish, and a tad bit roasted.

A bit lemony and tight to start with; aromas of roasted berry, coffee, shoe polish and tar are hard and dark. In the mouth, it’s fresh and tannic, with forward flavors of black fruit, herbs, dark chocolate and toast. Shows some heat and burn on the finish, but it’s a concentrated, full-force wine.

Loads of _mocha and toffee aromas come across on the nose along with some black olive and standard Cabernet fruit. Vivacious cherry, plum and cassis flavors grace the tight, structured palate, and the well-oaked finish delivers a blast of chocolate and espresso. This young wine is solid and well made—a pure and positive _expression of the Colchagua Valley.

The nose is forceful and bold, but somewhat nondescript. Plum fruit leaps from the palate, and so does chocolate. In fact, chocolate is the overriding characteristic in this wine, so if that’s your bag, then dig in. The finish is warm and expansive.

Warm, earthy and stewed smelling, but then sharp and tangy and acidic in the mouth. Red fruits are dominant, but there’s a persistent scour to the wine that doesn’t allow it to get to the next level of quality or ripeness.

Generic Chardonnay but still pretty good, with oily, nutty, tropical aromas followed by a zesty, acidic palate that loads up on apple and citrusy orange-like flavors. Shows good length and clarity on the finish, and overall it outperforms the winery’s so-called “reserva” Chard from the same year.
