Moderately acidic with broad appeal, this Riesling deals light citrus, grass and pear aromas and flavors. Zips to a close with an interesting, kiwi-like flavor.

Sunny, lively and unique in that it’s floral on both the nose and the palate, where the fruit is bright and tropical. A good white wine, though the floral bits may throw you off from guessing that it is Chardonnay.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
With its pronounced weight, bit of residual sugar and slightly oily texture, this is not a prototypical Australian Riesling. But it is well made, with flavors of baked apple and citrus that last on the finish.

A very good, straightforward, drink-now Cab, with wide-reaching toffee and caramel aromas. It’s just right size—medium-boned, with a pleasing, easy texture. Plum and maybe even some blueberry on the palate are oaked judiciously, and both the wood and the juicy fruit persist through the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Offers cracker and wheat aromas, and light white stone-fruit flavors that seem coated in confectioner’s sugar, or talc. Perhaps it’s the “unwooded” designation talking, but this wine seems a little light, and not much like Chardonnay.

Taylor’s (marketed as Wakefield internationally) seems to be on a roll. This is a complex, multidimensional Shiraz laced with nuances ranging from mulberry and plum to meat and spice and on to coffee and black olive. It’s medium-bodied, with tannins that are supple enough to make it approachable right away.

Fresh and light-bodied in style, with ripe tropical fruit and citrus taking center stage. It’s a well-made, fruit-driven white at an affordable price.

From the Clare Valley winery Taylors, which is known in the States as Wakefield. This Chard shows concentrated pear, toast and mineral aromas. Its flavor profile is both floral and caramelly, with pear fruit at its core. Medium-soft in body.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
On the side, with a hint of warmth on the finish, this is nevertheless a very good wine. The aromas are powerfully mineral, accented by bold lime notes, while the flavors are intense and concentrated. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Sure, it’s an oaky Chardonnay, but it’s an uncommonly well-executed version at a reasonable price. Scents of toast, cinnamon and citrus custard give way to flavors of oranges, stone fruit and toasted grain. It’s richly textured and lush in the mouth, showing just a hint of warmth on the finish.
