A roughly even (55/45) blend, this is a tasty, herbal style, with fresh gooseberry and lemon fruit. There’s a nice kick to the mouthfeel and a vibrant, food-friendly finish. Best Buy.

This is a straightforward, fruity style of sauvignon blanc, with juicy, citrus flavors dominant. Tart and refreshing, simple and clean.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is just the second vintage for this value producer’s “dry” Riesling. Though labeled dry, this wine definitely lights up the fruity side of the street, with detectable (0.7%) residual sugar. Exceptionally fragrant, with candied honeysuckle scents, and sweetly alluring. 705 cases produced. Best Buy. —P.G.

Fresh, varietal, juicy with flavors of pear, lemon and grass. It’s varietal with the cut and precision of the grape, plenty of acid, and good persistence.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Here is another fine effort from a re-invigorated Washington Hills brand. It’s fresh and brimming with berry, cherry and cassis fruit. Supple and bright, it’s got perfect structure and weight, with light pepper in the finish.

Definitely a step up from the regular Chardonnay; this is more substantial, bringing in some mineral, citrus rind and spice along with apple and pear flavors.

Juicy, bright, loaded with young, grapey, berry flavors. Bright and polished, with a Grenache-like character, though it is 100% varietal.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
With its 10% alcohol, bright fruit and lush, round mouthfeel, this is more mainstream (and main meal) than the late harvest label would suggest. The sweetness is perfectly balanced against firm acids, and the fruit flavors combine citrus and peach with light streaks of honey.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Even on the palate, yet overly tart with sour herb, green olive and leather accents marking the black fruit. Has a mineral-citrus tang, and the high acidity that shows in so many Washington Syrahs.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Another well-priced offering out of Washington’s Columbia Valley, this one offering pretty caramel and coffee scents and raspberry and herb flavors. It’s light in body, but creamy-textured, with a decent finish that echoes with coffee, vanilla and ground pepper.
