Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Odd, opening with guava, guacamole and banana-like aromas that verge into soft, runny cheese, and turning bitter on the palate. Almost Sauvignon Blanc-like with its tart, grapefruity flavors and acidic bite.

Another bizarre wine from this producer, similarly marked by cheesy aromas only partially relieved by peaches. Has a buttery texture and hint of melon but the tart acidity and dryness are more like a Fume Blanc. Is there a bacterial problem in this winery?

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A featureless, almost barren wine, with such lean, watered down citrus fruit flavors that the main palate impression is of acids and alcohol. Bears nothing in common with Viognier, and it’s amazing how they could have missed out on all the fruit.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Decent, everyday Zin, with wild berry and earthy flavors wrapped in thick but easy tannins. Thankfully, it’s fully dry, although the alcohol is on the high side, and the wine feels hot in the mouth. There’s a sharp tartness in the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Young and fairly tannic now, although quite soft in acids, this is a lush Syrah, with powerful cherry-berry flavors that have a complexing edge of coffee and leather. It turns a little sweet on the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Kind of soft and collapsed, but dry, with earthy cherry and blackberry flavors, this Cab hails from the cooler west side of the valley. It has a good edge of tannins.

Decent everyday Chard, with peachy, pineapply fruit and a creamy texture. The finish is spicy.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
It’s a big glass of wild berry fruit, with ample tannins and a touch of raisins in the finish that will play nicely against barbecue sauce.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A toughly tannic 100% Cab that is virtually undrinkable without cellaring. It locks the palate down into numbness, but the fundamentals are promising. With its deep, rich core of blackberry fruit and balanced structure, it should easily negotiate the next 10 years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Decent everyday fare, a grassy wine with extremely dry flavors of grapefruit and a bit of complexity. It’s well made and has some elegance. Turns tart and bitter on the finish, with the taste of citrus rind.
