Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Rich and soft, the yellow fruit character of this wine shines through the acidity. It has a broad texture, although never losing sight of that crispness.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This steep vineyard produces a particularly rich style of Chablis because of its excellent exposure. This wine exemplifies this. It is warm, and rounded, with superrich yellow fruits, almost tropical. Underlying it all is a structure derived from green plum skin flavors.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a rare premier cru vineyard with its north-east exposure. In good years, like 2005, it can produce a wonderful expression of the mineral structure of fine Chablis. Apple and grapefruit flavors are at the forefront here; this certainly needs to age for 5–6 years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Open, generous and relatively opulent, showing all the richness of 2005, along with peaches, apricots and tropical fruits. It’s round from start to finish, a luscious Chardonnay. Just some crispness at the end.

Valmur sits in the middle of the grand cru region, forming a valley bordering Vaudesir and joining Les Clos (Fèvre owns sites on both sides of the border). This is a stylish, intense wine with a slightly smoky quality to the powerful fruit. It sets up beautifully in the midpalate—firm and expansive. Layers of stone, mineral and crisp fruit are highlighted by a tangy saltiness that really sings with oysters.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A beautifully balanced wine, mixing an intense, nervy, crisp fruit character with light wood flavors and the most piercing acidity. This is a serious wine, for aging over 3–5 years while retaining impeccable fruit.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Woody, toasty aromas announce this rich wine. With the ripe peach and nectarine flavors, this feels generous and opulent. However, there is always that push of a more steely, taut character to keep firmly in its terroir.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A very taut wine. Yes, it has richness and weight with ripe fruits, but the main character is dominated by a tense line of acidity, of very crisp fruit and of an intense steely texture. For aging over 4–5 years.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A ripe, bold and impressive wine, showing yellow peaches and pineapple flavors to go with its tight core of minerality. There is a touch of wood, but the main thrust is for broad fruit, open and welcoming.

A big, burly Chablis, beautifully ripe, exhibiting powerful fruits overlaying a core of citrus and apple skin texture. The wine is open, rich, with an enticing juicy character, finished with bright, ripe acidity.
