Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A disappointing effort from this normally reliable winery. There’s some dark earth and fruit but it’s hard to get at under a veil of charred oak, cellar dirt and alcohol. The finish tastes of coffee grounds. The mouthfeel is fine, the flavors just don’t come together. —J.C.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a full-throttle, rich and moderately dense Shiraz with bold aromas of raspberry and plum. Chocolate notes develop on the palate, adding more complexity. Velvety on the finish, where there’s also a touch of alcoholic warmth. Imported by International Vines, Inc.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Boldly fruity, this “wine product”—labeled as such because it is only 4.5% alcohol—features loads of strawberry and tangerine character. It’s perfumy, soapy and sweet, balanced by frothiness.

Wirra Wirra Moscato - 2009

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A very nice Shiraz, with meaty, chocolaty flavors and a core of ripe black plums. The nose also takes on earthy-mushroom and molasses scents; from end to end, oak is present, but not overbearing. A natural match for beef roast and gravy.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A nice combination of earth, pencil eraser and dried spice on the nose ushers in raspberry and black cherry flavors. It's a mid-sized Shiraz, accessible even now, with tannins that grip the midpalate and don't let up through the finish. 5,000 cases produced.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Aromatic, with smoke, earth and barbecue on the nose. Dry tannins in the mouth; black plum and oak are the principal flavors here. Would pair well with a broad range of foods, from pizzas to pastas and burgers. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot. 4,000 cases imported.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Heavily oaked, with coffee, chocolate and cedar aromas leading the way and backed by the addition of vanilla and blackberries on the palate. It’s creamy in texture, with only some soft tannins on the finish. Drink now–2012. Imported by International Vines, Inc.

Wirra Wirra Cabernet Blend - 2005

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Though a tad simple in the mouth, the nose has more than enough going on, with black tar, raspberry, rubber and earth notes, all sheathed in toasty American oak. The tannins are ripe but noticeable. Best now to 2011.
