A bit restrained, but identifiably Gewürz, with its trademark aromas of lychees and rose petals. Picks up some ripe melon nuances on the palate. A polite introduction to Gewürztraminer, virtually guaranteed to not offend. —J.C.

This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Zweigelt isn’t unlike a lightweight Merlot. Earth and black cherry aromas and flavors on a lithe frame are tinged with dried herbs. Finishes tart. —J.C.
