A great value in unoaked Chardonnay, the 2006 Woop Woop features understated peach and pineapple aromas but really roars to life on the palate. It’s broad and mouthfilling but not overly fat, firming up and gaining focus on the finish, where it effortlessly blends peach, melon and pineapple flavors. Drink now.

Well known Aussie winemaker Ben Riggs has crafted a dense, savory Shiraz that sells for a bargain price. Notes of roasted meat, black olives, coffee and cinnamon rest on a foundation of mulberry fruit, with just the suggestion of dusty tannins on the finish. Drink now and over the next couple of years.

Not simply a jammy mouthful of fruity richness, the 2007 Woop Woop shows enough structure to ably partner food rather than replace it. Notes of raspberries, roasted coffee and vanilla are slightly confected, but the firmness on the finish proves this is not a cocktail wine. Burgers, anyone?

This dusty, pineapple-and-peach wine has a common flavor profile, but its round mouthfeel, lively acids, and crisp finish give it a leg up on other value-priced offerings. (Though its name may sound like an indigenous, endangered Oz animal, "Woop Woop" is actually another term for "way the hell out in the middle of nowhere.")

I poured a quick glass of this as a recent tasting I attended talked up the pairing of Autralian Shiraz with BBQ. My first impression is how it is a nice light purple, not totally opaque, but still very dark. Upon swirling it around, I see it has almost no legs at all. It has a good clean nose, I think I get a plum flavor from it but the scent is gone very quickly. I try it and I get a little of that plum taste but with a peppery undertone and it really smooths out as the wine breathes more and more giving it a strong subtle finish. A good prounounce aftertaste lingers around and it was welcome by me. Woop Woop was aquality wine and I'd pair it with BBQ any day of the week.

Kind of dry at first. Had to breath a little to open up and get smoother.
