Very rich and layered, a dry, crisply acidic wine that gets the mouth watering like a Sauvignon Blanc should. Shows flavors of citrus fruits, gooseberries, green grass, vanilla and minerals, with a touch of tart pyrazines.

Power and concentration mark this Syrah. It’s explosive in cherry, raspberry, bacon, mocha, pepper, mineral and new oak flavors that are frankly delicious, and the mouthfeel is pure silk. Could be a bit firmer and more structured, but it sure is a good red wine to drink now.

Nicely dry and crisply acidic, with a minerally scour of stone that cleans the mouth and gets the tastebuds watering. The flavors are of cool-climate lemons, lime and grapefruits. But shows a considerable note of green, feline spray that lowers the score.

You’ll find good flavors in this Pinot. They range from ripe cherry pie filling and mocha to red licorice and sandalwood, vanilla and Asian spices. However, there’s a sharpness that persists throughout, and in the end becomes annoying. Drink now.

This is a generous, likable Syrah for drinking soon. It’s dark in color, full-bodied and dry, with ripe flavors of blackberries, plums, cola, anise, sandalwood and peppery spices. The soft tannins help the wine finish rich and silky.

The vineyard bears only a Monterey appellation, but the location is strategically close to both the Santa Lucia Highlands and the Arroyo Seco. The wine is quite good, racy in acidity and dry. It offers complex flavors of strawberries and cherries, with earthier notes of sautéed wild mushrooms and mulch. A real success, and a wine that will pick up bottle complexity over the next 4–5 years.

Crisp, vital acidity marks this ultrarich wine with a mouthwatering bite of tartness. The flavors are enormous, suggesting long hang time fruit that ripened to pineapple, lime and mango perfection. Not particularly subtle, but flamboyant in the California style.
