Well balanced and medium bodied, this isn’t a biting-acids, oyster-ready sort of Riesling. Instead, it’s rather feminine, with pretty sunflower, honey and peach fuzz flavors swathed in chalk. The nose has nice, waxy yellow melon and citrus notes. Delicate, easy to find, and a bargain, as are most all of Wynns’ “Coonawarra”-labeled bottlings, which are all priced in the low-to-mid teens.

Light floral and citrus aromas. On the palate, the feel is lively, with overtones of citrus dressing up a steely, minerally core. A good value in Oz Riesling. 2,000 cases imported. Imported by Foster’s Wine Estates Americas.

Has whole wheat aromas. The palate deals juicy fruit and nicely textured, youthful tannins. Medium-sized and built for the long haul; aging John Riddoch for 20 years is common down under.

Still kicking almost 20 years later, with good grip and fine tannins on the palate. Flavors are of black plum and earth; could still go another 5–10 years.

Acids are lively, and tannins hold on through the finish. Nose still isn’t revealing its all, but the palate is full of plums and cherries, which wear a pleasing, brambly overlay.

This jammy, mid-weight Shiraz has very ripe, maybe a bit overripe, fruit. There’s a herbaceous note here that doesn’t snug up to the fat berry flavors. Still, the soft mouthfeel makes it a very friendly wine, and it closes with licorice notes and modest tannins.
