The strawberry notes on the nose are sweet and candied more so than refined or classy. Flavors of plum and cassis are good enough, while the finish is heavy and round. It falls off at the end, however, failing to hold its grip.

Soft honeysuckle, pear and apple aromas are nice enough, and the mouth is fairly full, with zesty fruit supported by oak that turns a bit coconutty. Tasty and fleshy.

The nose isn’t great at first: There are green tobacco notes and a mild sourness. Things improve with time, however, and the wine deals adequate to good plum, berry and chocolate flavors. Fairly racy and weighty, yet not refined.

Cassis, cherry and plum fruit gets a boost from the leathery, mouth coating tannins, while ancillary notes of vanilla, tomato and chocolate stir interest. Among basic Cabs, this is a good one.

The Best Buy parade for Chilean Sauvignon Blanc is bolstered by this pure, stable ’07. The nose deals hints of melon, vanilla bean and lime, although it’s mostly neutral. Flavors of green apple, citrus and so forth are familiar, while the feel and finish are smooth, comfortable and just deep enough. Drink now.

Easygoing on the nose, with light melon and green-fruit aromas. Yet it’s crisp in the mouth, but sort of choppy and tart as well. The wine is refreshing but short and linear, as if some of the pulp and power were siphoned off. What’s left is fresh and lasting, but a little weak in flavor.

Slightly gritty and baked at first, with a marshmallow-like sweetness on the nose. Turns more tarry and dark with air, and after that come flavors of cassis and black cherry. Shows solid freshness and a smooth, mildly herbal finish. Good wine overall.

Opens with honest green notes of gooseberry, lime and sea foam, and while the palate is a touch soft in texture, it has true Chilean SB flavors of bell pepper, fresh lettuce and melon. Sturdy on the finish, with a forward attitude.

Funky, herbal and leafy on first impression, and it only gets more herbal and green as it unfolds. The palate has an o.k. feel and soupy flavors of roasted berry fruit and leaves. Finishes similar, with a rustic leafiness. Not terrible for the money.

Salinic and also melony on the mostly clean and crisp nose. The palate is healthy, with round, lightly pithy flavors of green melon, peach and kiwi. Citrusy on the finish and a little green on the fade out. Good for summer quaffing. Drink this year.
