There are no complaints with this Chardonnay. Apple, pineapple, butter and toasted oak load the flavor package. The perfect balance and velvety mouthfeel provide a solid background. The producer recommends kangaroo tail soup with this one—but why not? You get to go to Australia, and kangaroo is low in fat and cholesterol. Best Buy.

Dominated by blackberry notes, this is an easy rider that you can enjoy any night. The tannins are soft, the mouthfeel smooth and the finish long. Enjoy it with some pasta. Best Buy.

Straightforward and soft-bodied, with lots of sweet yellow and tropical fruit; even oak and mallowy flavors take a backseat to the bright fruit. I’m not saying it’s nuanced, but this is the easy, quaffable kind of wine that sucks novices into enophilia in the first place. - D.M.

Combines smoky, slightly acrid aromas with pretty strawberry scents and then piles juicy berries onto the palate. Finishes tart with hints of smoke and wood. For summer grilling at home, this is a pretty good choice. Best Buy.

Zippy and zesty, with scents of fresh lime, cut grass and passionfruit, this is a nose that’s firing on all cylinders. There could be more intensity in the mouth, but you’ll be too distracted by the pretty pine and crisp lemon notes to notice. A great choice with light shellfish. Drink up.
