I really like this wine. It's very easy to drink. However, it doesn't provoke much thought, so I find it better for drinking with friends when you don't want to think about what you're tasting and just want something simple that'll give you that happy wine feel. 3 Notes

I actually had the 2001 Le Riche RESERVE. color: deep browny purple. nose: Prunes, molassas, dark, cooked cherries. palate: yum... leather! lots of earth (but no barnyard), grilled shitake mushrooms, a little blackberry jam note but mostly black cherries and leather. Nice acidity. 3 Notes

Really a different big red. Lots of fruit-n-spice upfront with a long-strong finish. Eucalyptus flavor definitely makes it unlike another other wine. 1 Note

Fruity and aromatic, full-bodied and complex. Just a hint of bitterness offset by the colby cheese stick alongside.

So sad to see this wine is out of stock. Any chance that Bottlenotes will be getting more?

So I'm not normally a merlot drinker, but I definitely enjoyed this one. Drank it with my wife, siter and brother-in-law and everyone said they enjoyed it. It tasted nice and fruity, but it had a softer feel than what we normally think of with Merlots.

definitely earthy; would be better with richly flavored food like game or a braise. Too tannic for me. 1 Note

herbaceous in a really appealing way, smells like macerated strawberries and raspberries with rosemary and thyme. medium bodied with smooth tannins. 1 Note

So my wife would give it 4 stars, and I would give it three, so... 3.5 it is. She's a big malbec fan, so maybe that's why. It tasted a little raisin-y/plum-y and was a little acidic.

What a pleasant surprise! This was an extremely enjoyable bottle of wine; Superior for its price range. I'd give it three and a half, if halves were possible. While it only had some of the refined qualities of a much more expensive bottle, it had NONE of the lesser qualities I often accept from bottles in this range. It has a very smooth, even silky, deep bass-note flavor, full of fruity lusciousness, as opposed to the higher, brighter tannens of many Syrahs. I also found it to be just a touch sweeter (not in the bad way!) than the average Syrah, kind of like a cross between a Cote du Rhone (not surprising, what with its Chateauneuf du Pape lineage) and a California Pinot Noir. If you're willing to spend $15/bottle on your everyday wine, you'd be drinking an awfully good one. Or, you could save it for more special servings and be impressive at bargain rates. I enjoyed it fully both with food and without. We had our first glass while watching a re-run of the Charlotte-doesn't-want-to-be-the-"up the butt girl" episode of "Sex and the City". What could be better? 4 Notes

Beautiful nose, vibrant fruit, not too grassy, very subtle frissant feel. Delicious. 12 Notes

Another great find, and seemingly unusual for the country of origin. It's a crisp, mineral tinged wine, but with strong floral notes as well. I've never tasted an Italian white so reminiscent of a French Viognier. But with a more tangy, metallic component that I enjoy to temper the sweetness. A very enjoyable impressive wine. 5 Notes
