Most Recent Tasting Note:

Note's relate to earlier vintage (2002, 2000). Priorat wines are to Spain today what Tuscan wines were to Italy in the late 80's early 90's. Alvaro Palacio is an excellent winemaker to start with if you haven't tried a Priorat yet. Their most popular red blend, Las Terrases, mixes 5-6 different varietals with Carmenere making up the foundation. It has luscious dark fruit flavors surrounded by hints of lighter fruits like apricot, an excellent balance of earthiness, and a soft but lingering finish. It is the style that explains why wines from Priorat are my favorite. The best way I can describe the essence of these wines is to thing of a coffee bean dipped in dark chocolate stuffed in a raspberry, stuffed in a dark cherry that's then stuffed in a kiwi. 2 Notes
