My wife and I both really liked this wine. It had some great flavors that lingered for awhile. We had it with some fairly heavily spiced roasted chicken, and it didn't get overpowered at all.
I'd be surprised if we didn't get some more of this one.
NOSE: raspberry, barnyard, cloves. big cloves. PALATE: Good! dark chocolate. Tastes like Merlot - a little watery and very mouth-watering. RATING: 7/10. I wouldn't buy it myself, but i enjoyed drinking it. 1 Note
Deep dark blackberry currant white pepper and notes of chocolate and layers of complexity and an amazing mouth feel. This truly tastes like a flagship napa cab blend, and is worth the big price tag.I enjoyed it at The Corner in SF with an awesome short ribs dish. 1 Note
Really disappointed with this wine. Popped the cork (it popped), poured the wine (it fizzed) then went flat in 5 second... Very sad for the price. 1 Note
Big dark fruit with currant, tobacco, mocha and a smooth mouthfeel. Can also taste a little age as well as the 18 months in the barrel. Only 8 barrels produced! 2 Notes
I purchased the 1999 to compare with the 2000. Definitely much more muted in comparison to the 2000. All the elements are there, but for $2 difference you might as well buy the 2000 vintage! 5 Notes
A little tight to start off, but opened up nicely after a swirl around the glass. So far, I've really enjoyed all the Portuguese reds I've tasted. Subtly sweet and vegetal. 1 Note
Dry, earthy and full of chewy tannins, this barolo was made to be drank with hearty meats. I enjoyed it with a pappardelle with wild boar ragu sauce at Specchio in the Mission in SF. 1 Note
