Medium Dry. Slightly acidic. Had it at home, and then the 2007 out at Rasika. I didn't sense much of a difference between the 2007 and 2008. Strong green apple flavor with a bit of sweet honeydew with a splash of pollen. I liked it, but it was not dry enough to pair with spicy food.

I was excited about this wine because I really enjoyed the Crocodillo. However this is a big wine in need of a big meal.Great full wine for a lower alcohol wine. Fruity on the nose with a crisp finish. 41 Notes

Beaumes de Venise is a tricky appellation to understand. The pleasant village lies just north of Carpentras and a few kilometres to the west of Caromb. It is widely known for its stunning dessert wines, however this is not the reason it gained its own appellation status in 2006.Previously it had Côtes du Rhône Villages (named village) status for its reds, but in early 2006 it was elevated to its own appellation to sit alongside Gigondas and Vacqueyras. There is a separate appellation for the sweet wines known as Muscat de Beaumes de Venise. Look for the reds from Domaine de Fenouillet and for the best of the sweet wines from the area try the Domaine de Durban. 2 Notes

I didn't really like this. Had a strong stem flavor, without balance. 1 Note

Wild red berries, candied cherries, holiday spice, jammy. It's big, long finish, soft tannins. Very good, and I would buy it again.Drank 2/19/2010 w/DWW team at my place 1 Note

Ruby red; intense, spicy bouquet with dark chewy chocolate that overwhelmed the dark fruit. Heavy tannin. Short finish. I didn't like it that much. I think it needs more balance.January 2010-w/sandy & amanda 1 Note

Woodsy and dark fruit. espresso. soft spice. Smooth and lush dark berry, vanilla, and ripe plum skin, with a pleasing current of minerality throughout. i like it a lot! the mineral undertone adds a twist to it. Very typical of the rioja alavesa region. I can taste the red clay and limestone, which I enjoy. $20 at Cork'd. DC. January 2010Rioja Alavesa is the smallest of three sub-regions of Rioja region. Its higher altitude and cooler temperature allows the grapes to achieve moderate acidity, and the soils of the vineyards are rich in clay and limestone, contributing to the mineral tones present in many of the wines from here. 1 Note

Good wine but I didn't love it... Medium-to full-bodied, on the palate spicy chocolate and dark raw fruit emerge. The wine has very good depth and concentration, ripe tannin, and a medium-long finish. It will taste better as it ages. For me it was missing the structure. It was too big right now... A dark, exciting looking wine with a cherry red hue. Initially dominated by roasted plum and cherry notes. Elements of spice, spearmint and smoke are quite elegant and refined which suggest a cooler year. As the wine opens up, there is strong emphasis on red fruits such as Satsuma plums, cranberries, mulberry and cherries mixed with characters of carob and a savoury edge similar to cut flower stems. The palate is complex, layered and is very precise with a firm, mineral boundary that suppresses the fruit yet the finish is surprising soft and long and very red in flavour. The balance of the red fragrant fruits and dark berries with the oak seems more noticeable than in previous years. The length and intensity of flavour is a great attribi\ute of this wine; the flavours continue to linger on and on. As always The Footbolt is a very approachable wine in its youth but we sse this wine in particular having the capacity to age many years. Alc/vol 14.5%Founding Farmers w/Ali January 1/2010 1 Note

Drank with RR in NYC at Casuella. The grape is St. Laurent, which is related to Pinot Noir. Delicate with a bit heavier color than a typical Pinot. I enjoyed this wine. Balanced. Medium-bodied. Less fruit than mineral. 1 Note

A red color with ruby tints. Nice balance between hints of fruit (wild strawberries) and peppery touches. A clean attack with nicely pronounced tannins. Fruity aftertaste. Smooth and memorable. The bit of spice makes it stand out. 12.5% ABV. 85% Merlot.Drank with Myriah 1/2010 after the bottle of House Wine. 1 Note

Well balanced and smooth. A little bit of sedate spice. Luscious and juicy. Soft tannins. Fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in French and American oak to soften the flavors. Has a bit of cabernet sauvignon and petite sirah. 1 Note

Blend from Mendocino grapes. It's ~ 60% cab with a bit of cab franc. Dark fruit, medium-bodied. Very smooth/high acidity. Low tannin. Very enjoyable esp for the price of a bottle! 1 Note
