Political Animals Premiere Party Wine Picks

Political Animals Premiere Party Wine Picks
A toast to the latest pretend political family

political_animalsStars of the new USA Network show, Political Animals gathered at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York to launch the show. Sigourney Weaver stars as a politician whose husband was once President (sound like any political family we know?). In the process, Weaver juggles her family drama, the press and her quest for office.

What was everyone sipping at the screening? Not as much American vino as one might expect for a political candidate. Oh wait, they’re only pretending to be politicians. In case you want to sip and watch and feel like a part of the celebration, here’s the wine list from the evening:

SANTA MARGHERITA Prosecco Superiore non-vintage (Prosecco di Valdobbiandene, Italy) $12
This prosecco is fresh, on the dry-side, crisp and citrusy-- the perfect pre-meal (or premiere!) drink. Find it here.

MARIO BATTALI SELECTION Pinot Grigio 2009 (Collio, Italy) $17
This light straw-colored pinot grigio is dry with hints of melon and pear. Pairs well with tiny appetizers on trays, eating while star-gazing. Find it here.

FLORA SPRINGS Merlot 2009 (Napa Valley, California) $25
There’s a hint of spice in this fruit-forward merlot. The 5,200 cases of 2009, served at the party, have sold out, but the 2010 is available. Find it here.

The show airs Fridays at 10 p.m..
