Celeb-Filled Event Raises Money for Ovarian Cancer Research Fund
Sauvignon Blanc, shopping and a cause
If you were a woman with a credit card in the Hamptons last month, you were likely pouring through a high-end luxury garage sale called Super Saturday.
In its 15th year, the star-studded event raises millions of dollars for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Clothing and accessories from Tory Burch, Donna Karan and hundreds of others were sold to shopping-obsessed Hamptonites, with all of the proceeds going to the charity.
Kelly Ripa, Donna Karan, Mark Feuerstein and a slew of current and ex Real Housewives walked the rows, seeking bargains.
Of course, food and lots of wine were being served. But if you were in search of a glass of red wine, you were in the wrong place. Only non-merchandise-staining white stuff was offered. Here’s what shoppers were sipping:
DRUSIAN Prosecco Gujot non-vintage (Veneto, Italy) $15
This crisp, fruity bubbly makes a wonderful aperitif and is priced well for those seeking additional shopping opportunities.
JACOB’S CREEK Moscato 2011 (South Eastern Australia) $8
Slightly less fashionable than the icons whose couture flanked the rows of the shopping event, but refreshing enough for an afternoon sip.
BRANCOTT ESTATE Sauvignon Blanc 2011 (Marlborough, New Zealand) $11
Fruit-driven and fresh, this sauvignon blanc is the perfect drink to counteract the anxiety of an over-used credit card.
