Ditch The Turkey For Oregon Wine Country
Free mobile phone app enhances Willamette Valley tradition

winecountrythanksgivingYour mom’s turkey is great, but Oregon pinot noir is better. If you need an excuse to bail on the holiday meal this year, our best bet is Willamette Valley’s Wine Country Thanksgiving, taking place throughout the valley from November 25 to 27.

For 29 years, vintners have swung open their cellar and tasting room doors to the public for barrel tastings, food pairings, live music, and local art. More than 160 wineries will participate this year and, for the first time, you can find them on your mobile phone via the Willamette Valley Mobile Wine Tour.

The free app, which works with iPhone and Android, features all members of the Willamette Valley Wineries Association, as well as their locations, hours, and wines produced. Search by varietal. Find the winery that’s closest to you. And, use point-to-point driving directions to get there.

Maybe there’ll be a stuffing wine pairing...
