New resveratrol chews pack an antioxidant punch
It prolongs the life spans of worms and fruit flies. Scientists have yet to prove that resveratrol, the polyphenol found in the skins of red wine grapes, has the same effect in humans. But we do know that it packs quite an antioxidant punch. And that you’d allegedly need to drink a lot of wine to experience the same benefits.
In addition to pills and elixirs, a few companies have started offering resveratrol in chewable form. ResVitale, available at GNC stores, makes “Bordeaux Berry” flavored Resveratrol Age-Revitalizing Chews, which claim to increase energy and endurance. Each chew (pack of 30, $19.99) is the antioxidant equivalent of 60 glasses of wine.
With 25 milligrams of resveratrol per chew, Genesis Today’s Resveratrol Vitamin Super Chews ($12.99) tout improved cardiovascular health and a youthful appearance, while Garden Greens’ Global Fruit Chews with Resveratrol ($29.99) get their added antioxidant power from açai, goji, and pomegranate.
Now, if only they made a resveratrol truffle...
