Wine Cocktails?
Mixologists add the grape to their shakers

lecolonial_03.We’ve been drinking Kir, an aperitfif of white wine with creme de cassis, for ages. But let’s face it, the classic Burgundian libation is in dire need of a facelift. Originated to disguise plonk (inexpensive wine), Kir has evolved in France to incorporate superior whites along with black currant liqueur.

On Wednesday night, two prominent mixologists will display their artistry by each putting a new spin on the old standby. During the final night of Burgundy Wine Week 2012, Pamela Wiznitzer of L'Oubli and Tomas Delos Reyes of Top of the Standard will pour a Bourgogne Aligote with ingredients to be unveiled at the tasting. The festive event features a deejay and Kir-friendly hors d’oeuvres will be held at Le Colonial, a boite where old-style France meets hip New York.

Bottom line: Sip, dance, and mingle all while sipping this classic standby. Click here to RSVP and purchase your tickets. Because you’re a Daily Sip reader, enter the code 30bottlenotes for 30% off the regular ticket price!
