A giant Riesling from one of the most respected winemakers in the Wachau region. Its knock-out bouquet is full of melon and pip fruits, as well as a smoky, slate minerality and hints of clean vegetables that intrigue. Then on the palate its almost oily texture coats with more pip fruit notes, alongside spice and herbs and a creamy sweetness which belies its somewhat low (7.8 g/l) residual sugar level. One wouldn’t call this anything but a dry Riesling, but somehow in its flood of full-bodied yet elegant flavors it does finish with a kind of sweetness that might leave you thinking that it’s off-dry. This wine is going to age spectacularly. |
