Braida , Bricco dell'Uccellone Barbera d'Asti - 2007

Tasting Note

Quite intense ruby red with garnet highlights. The bouquet is rich and complex with hints of red berries and small fruits; in the background... (more...) there are mint vanilla and liquorice spices. The taste is generous full-bodied making a mixture of great softness and grand class with a particularly long aromatic finish. The descendants of Giacomo Bologna called “Braida” who founded the estate in 1961 have carried on a fine tradition and continue to make probably the best Barbera d’Asti in Piedmont. But then if Braida Bricco dell’Uccellone is only Barbera then Chateau Latour is _only_Cabernet Sauvignon.

Didn't get much on the nose, but lovely cherry flavors and a very smooth finish. A great wine for pairing with food - went incredibly well with both rosemary lamb and citrus-chili shrimp.
