Craggy Range Gimblett Gravels Sophia - 2004(W-70415)

Craggy Range Gimblett Gravels Sophia

Winery Story

A tale of two families: Terry Peabody and his family had searched for ten years to find the place and the people that could fulfill a dream ... (more...)— that they could make some of the best wine in the world. It was this notion of legacy — to create something greater than the here and now — that led Terry Peabody in 1997 to Steve Smith and to the development of Craggy Range. Together they set a plan to buy the best vineyard land, select some parcels of grapes grown by the country’s best farmers, and to choose a place for their homes, cellars and country restaurant. Their aim was to make single-vineyard wines — wines that are true expressions of the vineyard’s terroir — that will compete with the best in the world.

Tasting Note

Craggy Range Sophia is a deep black cherry colored, exotically fragrant wine with aromas of black plums, cassis, licorice, spice, tobacco, c... (more...)offee and violets. The palate is densely structured and reflects the nose with notes of blueberries and bitter choc
