Léonie Tempier, first : she won a gold medal for her wine in 1885, when Phyloxera had already begun its rampage. It was’nt labelled Bandol wine as the Appellation had’nt been formally established then (it would be in 1941) , but Mourvèdre, the flagship grape-variety of Bandol, was already central in Tempier’s wines then.
