Dry River, Chardonnay (Martinborough) - 2008

Winery Story

Dry River Vineyard was established in 1979 for the production of individual, high-quality regional wines that faithfully reflect the "terroi... (more...)r" and the vintage from which they come. The name Dry River was originally held by a historical Martinborough sheep station (circa 1877) near what was initially called the Waihora River. The winery is located in what is now called the "Martinborough Terrace," a gravelly, free-draining area within the lowest rainfall zone in the North Island.

Tasting Note

Dry River’s 2008 Chardonnay is a truly exciting start to their stellar line-up of recent releases. The nose releases pronounced orang... (more...)e blossom, nectarine, meal, toast, and lightly roasted nut notes with subtle hints of fresh butter and chalk dust. Crisp and tight-knit in the mouth, there’s a lot of tension and concentration packed into the elegant, medium bodied frame. With a silken texture and very long minerally finish, this wine is just beautiful. Wine AdvocateVery limited.
