Frog's Leap Zinfandel

Winery Story

Founded by John Williams in 1981, Frog’s Leap was first established on a historic property in St. Helena which had been a commercial frog ... (more...)farm in the1800’s. The name pays homage to the first batch of wine John made at the Frog Farm with “borrowed” grapes from Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars where he was working as the winemaker. Today, Frog’s Leap farms nearly 220 acres of certified organically grown (CCOF) and dry-farmed vineyards mostly in the Rutherford AVA. Using the most traditional winemaking techniques, Frog's Leap strives to produce wines that are elegant, balanced and deeply reflect the soils and vineyards from which they originate. The winery eschews the use of modern winemaking technology (spinning cone, reverse osmosis, micro oxygenation, etc.) which it sees primarily as a means to create a “global taste,” in favor of a hands-off approach.
