Tasting Note
“Deiss’s 2009 Alsace represents his conception of tous-cepages regional typicite (all of the fruit mingled already as juice) an... (more...)d now constitutes 20% of estate production, although in the several vintages that he has made it, production has so-far remained inside France, for which reason I did not have chance to taste those predecessors, nor to re-taste the present wine from bottle. From tank, it pleases the palate a lot more than its intended special label pleases the eye. “Dry, with gras, but vibratory†– its author’s characterization – is indeed apt. Herbal and brown spice notes in the nose inflect an oily, full palate (at 13.5% alcohol), and this finishes with a welcome sense of active interplay of herb, spice, and alkaline, stony minerality.” —The Wine Advocate
