Albert Morot Beaune Cent-Vigne 1er Cru Pinot Noir - 2004
March 14, 2010
Albert Morot (pictured) has made an absolutely smooth, off-dry Pinot Noir. It is Mahogany in color with an inviting aroma of plums and a bit of leather. Incredibly elegant for the price ($26) I found the flavors not quite complex, but you can definitely taste the plum with accents of herb, spice and currant. Light tannins here. I couldn't even feel it on the sides of my tongue, and the balance is nice. A solid fruity finish, I would recommend this to any lover of Pinot Noir. Warning: if you're used to California Pinot Noir, this fruity wine will be quite different.
