Quite a bit of bottle variation now with the better bottles showing a sweet and very perfumed nose, floral elements but there is more tar, chocolate, earth, smoke, and a mix of spices; sweet fruit in the mouth, mostly blackberries, cassis; powerful acidity, but well balanced; clean and light in the mouth; fully mature now, though, and definitely needs to be drunk soon. Another bottle from a different source tried later was significantly better; rich nose of candied blackberries, cassis, black currant jam, and spices; in the mouth the wine showed black cherries and sweet citrus perfectly balanced; touch earthen but silky-textured; very elegant, which is not a term that first leaps to mind with this wine, but this is the best bottle I can remember of this wine.
