This is a late release from the château; sweet and intense nose, burnt sugar, herbs, spices, spiced peaches, tinges of earth and mineral notes coffee, caramel; intense and rich in the mouth with a richness and concentration that is amazing for a wine of this age; complex flavors with incredible depth; lemons, pineapples, coffee beans, and apricots all vie for attention; mouthcoating and gripping; from a time when this property made incredible wines. Deep color, tawny edging toward brown, wonderful nose of orange peel, caramel, pine needles and pine tar, spices, sweet aromas, quite aromatic and effusive; sweet fruit in the front of the mouth with a mix of roasted oranges and apricots, lots of sugar in the body of the wine but also a big dose of acidity that adds a surprising amount of freshness to this grand old dame; nice sweet and clean finish with touches of sugared lemon and caramel, great at any age.
