Chateau de Cornemps Bordeaux Blend - 2005
March 07, 2010
This elegant wine is a Right Bank Bordeaux meaning mostly Merlot (80%) blended with Cabernet Sauvignon (20%). For those that only like to drink AOC brands, you're in good hands. La Cloche de Cornemps exhibited a garnet color and was accompanied with a pleasant aroma of spice and cedar. I found the style to be quite concentrated and full bodied, but not too heavy. It's a Superieur so predictably it has a higher alcohol content (13%). It's a very flavorful wine with blackberry, plum, oak and spice. The finish was lengthy and lasted for about 30 seconds. Over all, I was impressed and it became the first Bordeaux I TRULY enjoyed. I recommend it for those that don't want an earthy Bordeaux or pay more than $25.
