Chateau Latour Puillac - 1978
* Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
This wine, from a vintage that failed to produce many important wines in Bordeaux, keeps improving with age, and is now a fully developed and close to classic Latour; the nose is sweet and evolved with strong hints of earth and stone, tobacco, spices, touch of smokiness and herbs; sweet and ripe in the mouth, with plenty of black cherry, cassis, and hints of floral tones; not a complex wine, and certainly not a contender for top Latour honors, it has, nonetheless, developed a smooth texture with soft tannins and should be a good quaff for the next several years.
