Although early to be drinking this wine, it already shows a great deal of poise; a ripe, rich nose with thick textures opens the wine, intense aromas of chocolate, earth, licorice, tobacco, green peppers and tar, very perfumed, as the wine opens more, the nose also takes on wonderful aromas of violets and crushed rock; elegant and huge in the mouth; powerful flavors of chocolate and cassis, layers of black fruits, and powerful tannins; all of this is in a deep and brooding matrix of intense but balanced flavors that are beautifully integrated; time should make this a memorable Latour. (18 now but likely higher later)
