Chateau Montrose Bordeaux Blend - 1996
Sweet and very ripe nose with fruit aromas so rich and soft that they begin to border on jammy, quite perfumed, but also with a hint of fresh churned butter in the complex of aromas emanating from the glass, quite deep and intense; the first taste in the mouth is all about sweet black fruits, but given the vintage and the property, one knows that will not last in a wine so young; the emergence of powerful drying tannins was predictable, and occurred on schedule; this is a powerful and complex wine, but there is only a small portion showing now; need to revisit this wine in five years or more.
