Winery Story

Owner and winemaker Cathy Corison’s philosophy is to craft complex wines that walk the fine line between power and elegance. Almost thirty years of winemaking for others, including Chappellet Vineyard, Staglin Family Vineyard, York Creek Vineyards and Long Meadow Ranch, honed her skills and left her eager to express her own winemaking voice. In 1987 she made the first vintage of Corison Cabernet. Though it's Cathy's name on the label, Corison is a true family winery. Cathy's husband, William Martin, a winery Renaissance man, designed the barn, keeps all the equipment humming, does the books and accounting and keeps the computers online.

Tasting Note

A beautiful single vineyard Cab from world-renowned Rutherford. Cool nights yielded a wine with inky color and a firm structure. Fleshing out this sturdy framework are rich, complex flavors and aromas. The red fruit notes include plum, blackberry and black cherry with hints of chocolate and a dash of spice for interest. A beautiful floral perfume of violets and an unmistakable mineral quality, often called “Rutherford dust,” complete the package.
