Winery Story
Crossroads Winery is located in the Hawke's Bay region of New Zealand's North Island. Founded in 1990, it is a boutique winery that has rapi... (more...)dly established a reputation for producing elegant wines of high quality and consistency. The grapes produced on the vineyard are hand-harvested and carefully selected, and the wines reflect the terroir characteristics of the region. Located on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand, Hawke's Bay is traditionally a leading wine-producing area with a record of making high-quality for over one hundred years. The region's five rivers and protective mountain range to the west provide a consistent water supply and climate. Stony, free-draining soils and sunny climate result in rich fruit for full-bodied, Bordeaux-style wines.
Tasting Note
The grapes for Crossroads Sauvignon Blanc originate in Marlborough, at the tip of the South Island, the region that put New Zealand on the g... (more...)lobal map for Sauvignon Blanc. It is not surprising that this is quintessential New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc as a result. Tangy and tropical aromas of kiwi, freshly cut grass, and floral tones round out this deliciously crisp wine. This wine was one of only 119 out of 3,000 entries to receive a Gold Medal in April 2006 in the 22 year old Dallas Morning News Wine Competition. The competition is one of the largest wine competitions in America and was judged by 50 leading industry professionals including several Master Sommeliers and Masters of Wine.
