Winery Story
With almost all of their estate-owned vineyards now producing fruit, Diemersdal takes advantage of the individual character of each particular vineyard. From the different soil types and age of vines, it obtains an exciting taste profile ranging from Durbanville’s herb-scented influences to equally exotic ripe tropical notes.
Tasting Note
Sauvignon Blanc is truly a variety that is created in the vineyard. Clean and ripe fruit will always produce great Sauvignon Blanc. Diemersdal harvests all the Sauvignon Blanc grapes during the cool of the night to maintain the fruit's integrity. After pressing, the wine is chilled and allowed to settle over a 24-hour period on the skins to extract all the flavors. The wine is then racked, inoculated and fermented on the lees at cool temperatures for 15-20 days. After fermentation and maturation, the various tanks are brought together to make a final blend.
This vibrant, classic Durbanville Sauvignon Blanc presents a brilliant lemon-lime color. The nose is complex with an array of tropical fruit, figs and gooseberries. These flavors repeat in the mouth along with a minerally character followed by a long fruity finish. The distinctive aromas support a wonderfully balanced palate, presenting purity of ripe fruit, coupled with a lingering harmonious finish. The seamlessness of this wine provides elegance rarely seen in this variety.

I'm fairly certain this wine was corked when I received it. Otherwise, it's just terrible.

This is a delicious Sauvignon Blanc. More golden raisin color than most Sauvignon Blancs, the Diemersdal SB offers tropical notes of mango blended with canteloupe. A perfect "sipper" to start any evening.
