Domaine du Jas d'Esclans Cru Classé Rouge - 2000(W-420)

Domaine du Jas d'Esclans Cru Classé Rouge
Spicy Jammy Fresh, Fruity

Winery Story

The Wulf family farms organically and harvests by hand at their Provençal estate, where marine influences from the nearby Mediterranean and... (more...) winds from the celebrated Mistral contribute to the unique character of their wines. They produce white, rosé and red wine from a host of Southern French grape varieties, all blended skillfully into their finished wines.

Tasting Note

There's nothing quite like the southern French reds for combining charming fruit-forward and savory spice qualities with wonderfully approac... (more...)hable structure. This red does just that, delivering aromas of strawberry jam, deli meat, herbs, red bell pepper and hearty tomato with mouth smacking flavors of straw-raspberry jam, white pepper, bologne and tobacco smoke. Sound weird? It's not: it's delicious! Try it - we think you'll agree.

bottlenotes tasting notes is spot on. it is well structured; no noticeable tartness or tannins, very "drinkable". Seems like a good deal at $20. Hard to stop at one glass.

Good. But, not as full-bodied as expected. Even the color was not dark. Note that this is one of the bottles that were left out in 9 degree weather by FedEX. Perhaps the quality suffered for the exposure to cold? Bottlenotes has been contacted. Hopefully they will advise me.

Very good. Jammy initial taste and wonderful bouquet. A little weak on the finish.
