Hermitage Hermitage “Monier de la Sizeranne” Chapoutier - 1990
* Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
First whiff is all blackberries and blueberries, but then the nose becomes more elegant and refined with aromas of leather, cherry, hints of lilac; very refined in the mouth, a lighter, more refined style than is found in the likes of Jaboulet or Chave, the wine is nonetheless loaded with expression; balanced fruit, touch of herbs, pepper, very clean and fresh in the mouth, almost “Burgundian” in some sense; long finish that never loses its focus; wonderful wine.
