Winery Story

Laely Heron launched Heron Wines in 1994. At the time it was rare to see a woman-owned business in an industry traditionally dominated by me... (more...)n. Her first release was a Merlot from the St. Chinian region in southern France. Since then she has added a California Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah to her portfolio. Laely has recently released "Sexto", a wine from Terra Alta, which is the southern-most DO in Catalonia, Spain. Over the last decade, Heron has become a “cult wine” among master sommeliers and chefs, a favorite “by the glass” pour in the nation’s top restaurants and a consistent “Best Buy” in the wine press.

Tasting Note

This 2007 Chardonnay blends fruit from the Russian River, Carneros, and Santa Maria. The press was fermented in half stainless and half Fren... (more...)ch oak. The resulting wine is vibrant with pear, lemon and orange fruit with just a hint of vanilla on the finish. A bright yet delicate Chardonnay perfectly suited for a diverse range of cuisine.
