Winery Story

Inspiration Vineyards is a boutique winery located in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley. Jon and Barbara Phillips, owners of Inspiration,... (more...) produce fewer than 800 cases of wine annually from vines grown on their estate and throughout Sonoma County. Jon's goal is to produce high-quality, food-friendly wines at an affordable price. His wines have solid acidity, making them especially well-suited for food pairing. Grown on the estate are Chardonnay and “Old Vine” Zinfandel from vines dating back to the 1890s. Their first vintage was in 1999: a Zinfandel made for friends and family. Beside the two estate wines mentioned above, they produce an Alexander Valley Zinfandel, Los Carneros Pinot Noir, and a Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

You can tell right off the bat that this chard is unfiltered--it almost looks like apple juice. There's a nice balance of tartness to offset pineapple and granny smith apple.

All my favorite characteristics of a white wine and unfiltered too. Very tasty and refreshing.

It doesn't say so on the label but this Chard would appear to be unfiltered by it's merky, light, golden color. Granny Smith apple, lemon and wet stone on the nose. The minerality is present on the palate as well along with grapefruit, lemon, apple and an ever-so-slight hint of oak. Crisp acidity brings balance to this wine with a nice medium finish. Bravo.

A tasty unfiltered Chardonnay with super-bright acidity. Slightly cloudy, caramel color; banana flambe finish. Super bright, almost racy acidity makes this a potentially terrific food pairing.
