Winery Story

The Kingston Family first came to Chile in the early 1900's. Carl John Kingston, the patriarch and pioneer, came to Chile looking for copper... (more...) (good idea) and gold (crazy idea). "Gramps" Kingston was an American originally from Central Mine, Michigan, which exists only as a ghost town today in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The Kingstons settled in Casablanca in the 1920s. Gramps' wanderlust yielded a 7,500 acre ranch with a herd of cattle but no gold. Through the years, generations of Kingstons have been raised in the "casa patronal" on the Farm in Casablanca. Our wine's label is inspired by this old house still standing today.

Tasting Note

The 2006 was the third vintage of Sauvignon Blanc for Kingston Family. It is pale in color but vibrantly aromatic, with citrus, mineral and ... (more...)floral notes — maybe the best smelling Cariblanco yet. But on the palate, the wine really shines, with a bright core of fruit, a surprisingly full-body for what is not a huge, ripe-style wine, and has a lively acidity.

Excellent. Had this last night with pan-seared swordfish (unfortunately not grilled). A crisp refreshing wine.

I rated it a 4. Mommy might actually like this white wine. It wasn't super sweet, but it was enough that I think she might enjoy it.

Solid Pinot Noir. A little harsh on the finish, but very good for the price. Great aroma, nice oak finish - solid Pinot Noir. Very fruity with a little bit of a bite, but very good for the price.
