For over 30 years Etienne Le Riche has been making some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon in South Africa, for 20 years at Rustenburg and since... (more...) 1996 from his own vineyards in the beautiful Jonkershoek Valley outside of Stellenbosch. Many describe Etienne Le Riche as the king of South African Cabernet. "Focus on one thing and do it to the best of your ability," Le Riche says. His Cabernet has a cult following and it is easy to see why.
This Cabernet beauty made by South Africa's "King of Cabernet" is one built for age, but is drinking beautifully now for those who can't wai... (more...)t. The wine is rife with gorgeous varietal aromatics and flavors typical of Cabernet, including mint, cassis, leather, cranberry and coffee bean. All of this is backed up by still more complex notes of toast, dust, ripe earth, dried leaves and cocoa. The fruit is forward and lush and the balance couldn't be more precise. Treat yourself with this wine - only you might want to get two!$22.00 Out of stock
Le Riche Cabernet Sauvignon - 2001(W-439)

I actually had the 2001 Le Riche RESERVE. color: deep browny purple. nose: Prunes, molassas, dark, cooked cherries. palate: yum... leather! lots of earth (but no barnyard), grilled shitake mushrooms, a little blackberry jam note but mostly black cherries and leather. Nice acidity.

Josh and I both really loved this wine all by itself. No food necessary. I wish I could have had more than one glass.
