Mauricio Lorca Opalo Cuyo Malbec - 2006
January 14, 2008
unfiltered, no oak. Wine named for the Opal stone. COLOR: dark blackberry color, dark pink rim, clear outer rim. Very dark color but bright. NOSE: blackberry, rhubarb. PALATE: You can taste the alcohol, but it's still really good. Coffee with a hint of raspberry. Lingers with oregano on the finish. Coffee aftertaste. CONSUMPTION: Should be consumed immediately because it doesn't have much structure and probably won't last long. VINICULTURE: only 1 grape cluster per plant. Because there's no oak, the flavor has to be concentrated to be balanced.
