Winery Story

Niepoort has been an independent family business since 1842. Through five generations, the business passed successfully from one Niepoort to... (more...) the next, and in most cases, older and younger generation worked side by side for a long period. The “Redoma” proprietary brand was first released in 1991 as Niepoort’s first Douro table wine. This wine is made from a mixed varietal blend (principally Tinta Amarela, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca) from a 60-year-old vineyard, although some older vines were used as well. It was raised for eighteen months in French oak.

Tasting Note

There is a touch of oak on opening, resolving into a bright and gripping wine. This dry white is a blend of Rabigato, Codega, Donzelinho, Vi... (more...)osinho and Arinto. It spent eight months in French oak and shows a concentrated and very lovely mineral and tropical fruit character with a full-bodied palate impression and layers of vanilla and more earthy notes.
