Martinborough Vineyards "Russian Jack" Pinot Noir - 2008

Martinborough Vineyards

Tasting Note

The 2008 Russian Jack Pinot Noir shows gorgeous chocolate and plum notes on the nose leading to a silky smooth tannins with layers of dark f... (more...)ruits coming through on the palate. This wine will develop further complexity over the next couple of years but is equally enjoyable in its youth.

I've never tasted this wine and I don't have a lot of interest in Pinot Noir, anyway. Except for the fact that a great Pinot can be truly fascinating. Why are Alyssa's notes so vastly different from the winery's description? Does it change a lot from bottling to shelf time?

I was recenlty tasting Pinot's in Willamette and we
actually spent a good deal of time discussing this at
one winery. All involved agreed that the tasting note
the winery had written at time of bottling had almost
no correlation to the way the wine tasted a year later.

A little hot - but ultra bright, ultra ripe red cherry throughout.
