Winery Story

Winemaker Gary Wooton began as a consumer, making wine at home. In 1997, Wooton formed Avatar Vintners, Inc. to produce handcrafted Napa Val... (more...)ley Cabernet Sauvignon. Avatar Vintners produced its first Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon using the Croze label in 1998. Gary Wooton created Smith Wooton as a showcase for small lots of handcrafted wine. The label is a tribute to his parents, Evelyn Smith Wooton and Len Wooton.
